Key quotes about the Google Chrome browser
September 2008 by admin
More and more people are starting to understand and talk about Chrome beyond it just being another browser.
Jeff Cogswell at eWeek.com had a few quotes that I thought were particularly insightful.
In describing Chrome he says:
“Chrome is trying to redefine the definition of Web browser and transform it into something that we’re already using browsers for: a self-contained platform within which we can run Internet-based applications.”
On Google’s reasons for creating Chrome:
“Google has recognized that the current state of Web application development has outpaced browser technology and that something needed to be done.”
As a benefit to developers:
“Chrome has built right into it several tools to assist Web developers.” (he’s talking about a Javascript debugger and a Javascript console – both are great aids to web developers).”
The effect of Chrome’s ability to create desktop short cuts for your sites:
“When you click the shortcut, Chrome opens up in a slightly different-looking window that doesn’t have the address bar and all that other recognizable browser stuff. Instead, it’s just a window with the Web site. In that regard, it looks more like an application.”
Thanks for sharing your insights Jeff.
You can read the full text of Jeff’s article here.
Note: if the second page of his article looks cut off, like it did for me, simply go to the URL in the address bar and change the “/1/” there to a “/2/” to move to the next page.

i keep learning about more and more little advantages and features with Chrome, with privacy, for example; now if only they would take care of it’s cookie management glitches…
Hi, thanks for sharing this with everyone! I had a blast writing the article, and I’m really sold on Chrome. I can’t wait to see where it goes from here. I predict Chrome is going to be huge.
