The Google Revolution and Sun Tzu’s “Art of War”
October 14, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
A year ago, we saw Google roll out the Chrome Browser, push energy behind Android and keep plodding along in their low key fashion of doing great things.
Today, we’re in the world of WinMobile failing, the Chrome OS around the corner, announcements of Android based netbooks and rumors of the Chrome OS rolling out soon in China on non-Intel processor machines.
Reminds me of Sun Tzu’s Art of War:
- “Therefore the clever combatant imposes his will on the enemy, but does not allow the enemy’s will to be imposed on him.”
- “Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected.”
Or more directly, don’t attack the enemy (Windows/Intel/monopoly) head on, instead go where they are weak (Mobile/Netbooks/open market).
Is there any question on we’re watching a well organized world revolution in progress?
No seriously, any question at all?
“Chrome Lite” Called Most Impressive Feature of Android

With all the reviews and reports about T Mobile’s G1 Android controlled phone hitting the web, one thing is clear, the “Chrome Lite” browser included with Android is mentioned repeatedly with in glowing terms.
In the Financial Times (FT.com), New York based Paul Taylor says that the Chrome Lite browser and it’s sleek integration are the “most impressive features” of the new Android based G1 phone from T Mobile.
The Financial Times is not alone.
Eric Zeman of Information Week writes that the Chrome Lite browser does a “phenomenal job browsing the web” and that web pages “loaded in a snap and looked fantastic”.
Could it be that the future of computing on the desktop is staring back at us from the Android cell phone?

Chrome is dead?

RIP Chrome
Is Google’s Chrome browser “flat-lining” as John Brandon at Computerworld says or have things simply calmed down to normal while Google works quietly at just following their own master plan?
What used to be a flash of new articles, posts and reports about Chrome each day have significantly faded off in the last few weeks, but as posted yesterday, visits to www.chromevoice.com continue to grow and so do the percentage of visitors using Chrome.
After looking and watching and looking some more, I think Google continues to operate in their own world, simply following their long term plan, one that has clear objectives, yet leaves the implementation up to the really smart people on the Chrome team (and of course open source contributors).
Remember the announcement of Android last year? After a bit the hype died down, but Google kept working on it and now it’s going to be released next month.
Pundits who call Chrome to be dying now will surely be eating crow come this time next year.
Wanna bet?
