German Security Official Say “Stop Using Chrome”
September 11, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

Apparently when the spokesman for Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security, Matthias Gaertner said that Google’s new browser “should not be utilized for general use”, he didn’t really mean it.
It seems he also never meant to say that his office had issued an official warning against Chrome.
Both comments came out in a British press article, only later to be followed up by further comments from Matthais Gaertner that his statements were taken out of context.
Regardless of what was reported, Mr. Gaertner clarified to the Associate Press that he meant to express his question on why Chrome was released as a beta product and also to express his interest in exploring the new features in Chrome.
Sounds like someone with a PR background helped him understand and express his opinion properly. Perhaps clarity came to them when Google Germany came forward to say that Chrome is safe and stable.
Urgent Security Issue: Upgrade Google Chrome Now

The short version of this article: Upgrade your Google Chrome browser now.
A team of security experts in Vietnam found a “critical” bug in Chrome which could allow hackers and other malcontents to take over your PC after you run into problems trying to save one of their “bait” files with title tag that is too long.
Google has already patched their Chrome browser, but you need to use the “wrench icon” on the right side of the window to pick “About Google Chrome” when it shows you the upgrade go ahead and download it.
The Chrome “Minor Tweak” You Need to Make Now

There’s an option you need to set in your Chrome browser right away.
Thank for the heads-up from the “US Computer Emergency Response Team” aka “US-Cert” for letting us know that Chrome’s default settings accepts all downloads without user notification. Yikes!
Rightly so, US-Cert advices users to go into the “Minor Tweaks” section of the options and click the checkbox to turn on “ask where to save each file before downloading”.
Good call US-Cert!
